The Orange Water and Sewer Authority (OWASA) has announced it will receive $1.96 million as part of a settlement with 3M, a manufacturer of PFAS chemicals.
According to OWASA, these funds are intended to help cover the costs of treating and reducing PFAS—also known as ‘forever chemicals’—in the drinking water for the Chapel Hill-Carrboro community.
OWASA expects to receive an additional $1 million from the 3M settlement, bringing the total to approximately $3.1 million, with further smaller amounts anticipated from other manufacturers…
