MONROE, Mich. — A 23-year-old man from Maybee was taken into custody late Wednesday night after leading deputies on a vehicle pursuit that began in Monroe and ended in Melvindale.
According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, the chase started around 10:55 p.m. on Oct. 29, when Deputy Zachery Marzouq attempted to stop a U-Haul box truck for a traffic violation near West Front and Cass streets in Monroe. The driver failed to stop, prompting a pursuit that wound through Frenchtown Township and onto northbound I-75.
During the pursuit, the driver threw items out of the truck windows and evaded stop sticks deployed on Nadeau Road. The chase reached speeds of up to 75 mph as it continued into Wayne County. Deputies ended their pursuit after the truck exited I-75 at Dix Highway in Lincoln Park…
