A meteor was caught on camera by a Neenah police officer’s dashcam

If you saw a meteor in the sky this week but didn’t get a chance to record it, a Neenah police officer has the proof for you.

The sighting took place at 10:13 p.m. Oct. 29, when officer Brent Wittman was leaving the ThedaCare Regional Medical Center Emergency Department in Neenah. His dashcam footage caught a streak of light appearing in the sky before quickly disappearing.

According to NASA, a meteor enters the Earth’s atmosphere at a very high speed, which causes it to burn up and produce a shooting star. This is not to be confused with a comet, which is composed of ice and dust, and vaporizes once it gets close to the sun…
