Turkey legs shouldn’t cause this much chaos.
If you have watched the news recently or even scrolled your favorite social media feed from a Houstonian, you’ve seen at least one headline or two about the rise and subsequent fall of the Turkey Leg Hut. In its zenith, the eatery used to anchor activities on Almeda and became a tourist attraction strictly because of the food, the atmosphere and the crowds of people who’d show up day after day.
Lines out the door just to partake in a Hennessy glazed or even a crawfish mac & cheese smothered turkey leg? It barely made sense, right down to the dress code enforced to enjoy such things. Yet, because it’s quintessentially Houston, it was a thing. And because the ending is so chaotic and continues to be dramatic, weird, violent and more?…
