Stephen Belyeu, creator and host of “The Night Owl” podcast, is on a mission to explore the eerie and unexplained.
His show delves into hauntings and ghost stories, offering listeners a spine-tingling experience. The host joined Trevor Scott and Sierra Waggoner for their Halloween special to share more about diving into Austin’s true ghost stories.
” I think where we stand out is that -I think a lot of shows want to try to prove the existence of ghosts. And, really, I think we’ve learned over time that we just are not going to be able to do that. So we took an approach that is a more science-based and also an investigative-based approach, and also using history to kind of validate claims.”
Keeping locations and information private is also a key piece of the show’s success. “Then when we bring in people like psychic mediums, we keep them completely in the dark, and we drive them to locations. And when their readings match exactly with what’s being reported, it’s validating as opposed to just a blinking light on a table. So that’s kind of where we go a little bit different with our show,” said Belyeu.
When asked about his favorite haunted spots in Austin, Belyeu admitted, “It’s tough because scary is hard because I don’t have a lot of experience as myself. I’m kind of a little bit more closed off. i’ve learned that about myself. I know this is Halloween. I want to be scary, but it’s like I’ve learned that a lot of it isn’t that scary. It’s more like a misunderstanding of what’s behind the veil. But I think the most active places, and I’ve said this a couple of times, Pioneer Farms is a beautiful location in Austin. It’s a living history museum. They have incredible activity out there.”
Belyeu also offered advice for aspiring paranormal investigators. “For me, it was just a matter of being curious. You know, I think if you’re curious, that’s a good start for me.”…
