Chabad of Nebraska Set to Reopen Community Food Pantry

Chabad of Nebraska (ochabad.com) is proud to announce the reopening of its community food pantry in 2026, bringing renewed hope and support to families facing food insecurity. Originally launched in 1992 as the first kosher food pantry in West Omaha, and still the only in the city, the pantry served thousands of individuals with dignity for more than three decades before temporarily closing in 2023 for major renovations.

The updated facility will reestablish an essential lifeline for the community while introducing enhanced safety and privacy protocols designed to protect every client’s experience. These improvements reflect a continued commitment to ensuring families can access nutritious foods in a comfortable and respectful environment.

Fresh produce will be grown through Chabad’s expanding community garden; a hands-on effort that brings volunteers, families, and neighbors together to cultivate fruits and vegetables for the pantry.
