APS holds food drive benefiting McKinney-Venton program

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Albuquerque Public Schools is aiding in community efforts to drive out hunger for students and families in need as well. On Saturday, dozens of student volunteers came out to uplift their community for a good cause.

The food drive benefits the McKinney-Vento Program to feed students and families in need. Students spent the morning packaging boxes and filling trucks with food.

Volunteers say Saturday was all about learning about he value of community. “I feel really lucky to have this opportunity to make a difference in our community, especially since food insecurity is so unsure right now. I think it makes a really big impact to be able to come out here every year and be the reassurance that these families need,” said Hayden Beggs of El Dorado High School…
