Seattle has seen a culmination of efforts between local police and federal agents to apprehend a suspect in a recent drive-by shooting. Law enforcement tracked down and arrested a 28-year-old man with a history of violence, suspected for a September 5 shooting in North Seattle. The arrest took place on Wednesday at a gas station in Tukwila, without incident, Seattle police reported.
According to information from the SPD Blotter, the suspect was apprehended by detectives from the Gun Violence Reduction Unit (GVRU), officers of the Community Response Group, and agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. The GVRU had been diligently working to develop probable cause over several months, intending to finally arrest the man for his alleged involvement in the violence that unfolded near North 102nd Street and Aurora Avenue North.
The joint effort proved effective when the suspect’s location was pinpointed at the gas station on Tukwila International Boulevard. The scene where detectives booked the suspect into the King County Jail saw charges for Drive-by Shooting and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm placed against him.
