Dress for Success Michigan Supports Ypsilanti Residents with Professional Clothing and Career Services

This month’s ‘Know Your Org’ series highlights Dress for Success Michigan. The organization is part of a global network that provides professional clothing and support services to women. It was founded 26 years ago by Cathleen Taylor. The Michigan branch helps people prepare for work and gain economic independence. Taylor’s experiences continue to influence the group’s work.

Tierra Tafoya, Taylor’s granddaughter, is the Chief Operations Officer. She has held this role for two years. Tafoya manages workshops, donation drives, and service coordination. She says Dress for Success Michigan serves women from many backgrounds. The group offers clothing, resume workshops, mentoring, career coaching, financial literacy sessions, and wellness programs.

Dress for Success Michigan now also offers men’s clothing. This change reflects a wider focus on community needs. The group holds monthly events where people can buy 15 items, such as clothes and hygiene products, for $20. These events are open to everyone.
