Henry County survives Kirkwood comeback to clinch Region 7-5A title

Kirkwood’s defense only surrendered three points in the second half and quarterback Miles Reding brought the Cobras back from a 15-point deficit with a chance to win in the final seconds, but Henry County held on for a 42-39 win and clinched the Region 7-5A title.

The Cobras surrendered more points in the first quarter of the loss than they did in any game this season. Henry County (6-3, 5-0 Region 7-5A) scored 29 points on just eight plays from scrimmage in the frame.

Kirkwood (8-2, 4-1 Region 7-5A) trailed 39-21 at halftime and outscored the Patriots 18-3 in the second half but Archie Brock’s interception of Reding near the red zone with 12 seconds remaining clinched the win and region title…
