Columbus Fire Lieutenant Hailed as Hero for Saving Dog Amid House Fire on W Markison Avenue

Last Thursday, a fire broke out on W Markison Avenue, prompting a rapid response from local fire services. According to a social media post from the Columbus Division of Fire, Lieutenant Birt, who was returning from his department’s physical, was the first to arrive at the scene. Without the full complement of firefighting gear, Lieutenant Birt still managed to save a dog that was ensnared on the house’s porch.
