A Ripley man was taken into custody after an altercation that occurred in the presence of children. On Saturday around 3:52AM, officers with the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a Ripley address for a reported altercation. During investigation it was determined that 32-year-old David McLaughlin III had allegedly pursued another person and destroyed a door utilizing his body while in the process of gaining access. The actions were performed in the presence of children and he was taken into custody due to NYS’s mandatory arrest law. McLaughlin was transported to the Chautauqua County Jail and was charged with 3rd-degree criminal mischief, 2nd-degree menacing, and endangering the welfare of children.
