Local Jewish organizations hosting educational events in response to Hanover parade float

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHP) — The Jewish Federation of Greater Harrisburg is planning to host educational programming on the Holocaust in response to a Halloween float at a parade in Hanover that depicted “a replica of the Auschwitz Concentration Camp gate.”

The Harrisburg Diocese said the parade float belonged to Saint Joseph Catholic School in Hanover. The German words “Arbeit Macht Frei,” which translates in English to “work makes you free” were displayed across the top of the gate.
