Irondequoit Residents Can Reduce Library Fines by Donating Food in November

In November 2025, the Irondequoit Public Library will hold its ‘Food for Fines’ program. Patrons can reduce overdue fines or lost item fees by $1.00 for each nonperishable food item donated at the checkout desk. Those without fines can receive a free hold for each item donated. There is no limit to the number of items that can be donated.

All food collected will go to the Irondequoit Community Cupboard, which expects higher demand this month. Suggested donations include canned fruit, meals, soups, beans, pancake mix, and other staple foods. The program applies only to fines on items owned by the Irondequoit Public Library, not other libraries…
