‘We have to come together’: Residents weigh in on redevelopment of Rockford Memorial Hospital

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — As Rockford grapples with the future of its west side, a long-shuttered hospital has become the focal point of a community-driven redevelopment effort.

The former Rockford Memorial Hospital, closed by Mercyhealth in July, may soon be reborn as a neighborhood hub under the stewardship of the Unity in the Community Development Center, led by Pastor Melvin Brown.
