Organizers pray for a gospel movement during Hope for Northern Kentucky events

The countdown is on for Hope for Northern Kentucky. After more than six months of planning and praying, organizers believe the effort will spark a powerful movement of the gospel across a region where nearly 90 percent of residents are unchurched.

The initiative includes school assemblies leading up to a youth rally on Nov. 5 at Lloyd Memorial High School in Erlanger and a major evangelistic crusade on Nov. 9 at the Newport Car Barn, where evangelist Daniel Ritchie will share “the hope of the gospel of Jesus Christ.”

“I really think that God is blowing the breath of revival on our region right now,” said Josh Schmidt, pastor of Burlington Baptist Church and chairman of the event. “I’m hearing from brother pastors and sister churches that already, in anticipation of these events, as we’re cooperating together, we’re seeing our people energized.”

Schmidt and Jason Hay, evangelism strategist for the Kentucky Baptist Convention who has worked with Schmidt from the beginning, recently discussed the initiative on the Kentucky Today Podcast. Both expressed optimism that everything is in place for a “gospel moment.”…
