Kathryn Jessee is the Community Development Management Analyst for Chesapeake’s Planning Department. She has worked for the City of Chesapeake since 2007. Jessee manages Housing and Urban Development (HUD) grants and helps local nonprofits receive funding. She also works to make grant applications more accessible and transparent, especially for affordable housing projects.
Jessee grew up in Frederick, Maryland. Her parents worked in local and regional government, which influenced her interest in public service. She attended the University of Delaware and studied abroad. After living in several states, she moved to Virginia.
Jessee spent ten years in Chesapeake’s Human Services Department. As a Senior Community Program Specialist, she helped families in the court system and connected them with resources. This experience led her to earn a master’s degree in public administration from Old Dominion University…
