The fate of a project intended to keep the Center Street Bridge standing in the event of a major earthquake may rest in the hands of the Oregon Transportation Commission, they were told Oct. 27.
Commissioners last convened in July, days after Gov. Tina Kotek announced she was calling lawmakers into a special session to pass new funding for ODOT. Lawmakers approved that funding Sept. 29, though the governor has not yet signed the legislation.
Commissioners are set to decide Nov. 13 whether to continue the project on its current timeline and allocate more funds for it. They could also elect to delay or even cancel it…
