PHOENIX — More than 923,000 Arizonans are facing a pause in food aid as the nation’s largest anti-hunger program — the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) — runs out of federal funding for the first time, prompting some of the state’s most vulnerable residents to turn to their communities for help throughout November.
Mary Moraga, who lives on a fixed income, said it was her first time in line for food at St. Vincent de Paul Saturday morning.
