Body of Missing Teen Recovered from North Santiam River Near Mill City

Linn County deputies recovered the body of 18-year-old Karandeep Singh from the North Santiam River after a two-week search following his accidental drowning.

Linn County, OR. — The Linn County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that the body of 18-year-old Karandeep Singh, who went missing earlier this month in the North Santiam River, was recovered on October 24.

A fisherman called authorities after his line snagged on what he believed to be a body near the Mill City Bridge. Deputies and members of the Sheriff’s Office Dive Team responded and recovered the remains, later identified by the Oregon State Medical Examiner’s Office as Singh. Officials determined the cause of death to be accidental drowning.

Singh was last seen the night of October 7 with friends near the river. Witnesses said he had been drinking and entered the water despite not knowing how to swim.
