LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY — A former Trimble County sheriff has been arrested and charged with first-degree sexual abuse after allegedly assaulting a woman while on duty and in uniform earlier this year, according to court records.
Charles Kelton, 53, turned himself in at the Oldham County Jail on Saturday, Nov. 1, after an arrest warrant was issued in connection with the alleged incident that took place on Feb. 21, 2025 inside the Trimble County Attorney’s Office.
Incident Occurred While Kelton Was in Uniform
Investigators say that while serving as sheriff, Kelton allegedly grabbed a woman’s hips and pulled her against him after she “physically and verbally rejected him.” The report states the incident occurred inside her office while Kelton was wearing his sheriff’s uniform.
