ATLANTA, Ga. — Cobb County officially has a new police chief! On Tuesday night, the Cobb County Board of Commissioners confirmed James D. “Dan” Ferrell as the permanent chief of the Cobb County Police Department. Ferrell has proudly served Cobb County for nearly three decades and has been leading the department in an interim role since April, following the retirement of former Chief Stuart VanHoozer.
Surrounded by family, friends, members of the community, and fellow officers at the appointment ceremony, Chief Ferrell called the moment “the professional honor of my life.”
