In a routine traffic stop that escalated into a drug bust, the San Rafael Police Department’s K-9 unit extracted illegal substances and paraphernalia from a vehicle yesterday. The car, which was pulled over for having expired registration dated two years back, was soon the subject of a narcotics investigation thanks to the sharp senses of a police dog named “Tango.”
According to a social media post by the San Rafael Police Department, “Tango” detected the scent of drugs, which led officers to discover not only narcotics but also cash, packaging materials, and a weight scale, indicators of possession for sales. Edgar Alexander Aguilar, the 36-year-old driver and lone occupant of the vehicle, was apprehended at the scene.
