Amarillo has long been known for its quirkiness. From the art of Stanley Marsh 3 all around the city, to the painted horses seen in random places, it’s definitely a city for those who enjoy randomness in its purest form.
Recently, people have started to notice something that closely resembles headstones starting to pop up around the city. When you just drive past them, it can be tough to see exactly what they are. It made a lot of people wonder if it was a memorial for someone who may have passed away in a car accident in the area.
A Message For Amarillo
Well, after some digging was done by others, a Facebook page was found that gave us some answers as to what they are. The page belongs to the Osgood-Lagrone Monument Company, and those “headstones” are their work.
No, they are not headstones. They’re monuments that are intended to reflect the spirit of Amarillo and what we are as a city and who we are as people. According to their Facebook post about them, they are a series of monuments “inspired by the Fruits of the Spirit, each one designed to celebrate the values that bring our community together.”

The first one, which you can see at 8001 SW 34th Ave, says “Amarillo Is Kindness”, and at the bottom of the monument, it says “Galatians 5:22″…
