While barbecue restaurants continue to struggle and in some cases close, one highly regarded spot is getting a little bigger. Patriotic Pig Smokehouse, an honorable mention of Texas Monthly’s 2025 Top Texas BBQ Joints list, will be opening a new restaurant in its home of North Richland Hills.
The new location won’t just be another barbecue spot, however. The business is opening Patriotic Pig Chophouse, which will focus more on steaks and seafood, by the TEXRail North Richland Hills/Smithfield station. That’s located in Richland Hills, about nine miles northeast of downtown Fort Worth and a suburb in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.
North Richland Hills City Hall first announced the Patriotic Pig project on Oct. 16. Then, the city said Patriotic Pig is investing about $5 million in the new facility, with the city contributing the land at an $1.4 million appraisal.
“The project is projected to fully reimburse the city by year six, and generate $2.3 million in local tax revenue over the first 10 years,” the city said in the Oct. 16 social media announcement.
