Man injured in Kansas City police shooting after allegedly firing gun into air

A man was critically injured during a confrontation Sunday afternoon after police say he had fired a gun into the air and was shot by an officer in Kansas City’s Northeast area, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The shooting occurred shortly after 3:30 p.m. in the 3500 block of Independence Avenue, the highway patrol said in a news release. No officers were injured.
