‘Stopped, contained, and cleaned’: Boise has its first sewer overflow in two decades

BOISE, Idaho — The city of Boise on Saturday experienced a sanitary sewer overflow – the only one of its kind that has occurred “in at least the last two decades,” according to a news release.

Boise officials on Monday announced the city had a sanitary sewer overflow on Nov. 1 that impacted the Thurman Drain, which is located north of Chinden Boulevard and east of South Eagle Road.

A power surge at the West Boise Water Renewal Facility reportedly impacted communications and facility operations, resulting in a backup in the sewer system…
