At Cascade Health, we believe everyone deserves expert, compassionate care at the end of life – as well as a space where both patients and families can find comfort and peace. That’s what Pete Moore Hospice House provides every day. One patient’s daughter reflects that, “the moment he was admitted I was able to breathe a sigh of relief because I knew he would be safe and cared for.”
While it’s never easy to think about losing a loved one, having an option like the hospice house can make all the difference when it’s time to make decisions about end-of-life care. Hospice is a holistic approach that focuses on quality of life for people with a life expectancy of six months or less. When further treatment is unlikely to help – or a person chooses not to continue curative therapies – hospice care helps manage symptoms and provide comfort. This allows patients and their families to focus on what matters most: time together.
A Home Away from Home
Pete Moore Hospice House combines hospital-level care with the warmth of home. Each of the 14 private rooms includes a full bathroom, fireplace and private patio, with doors wide enough for a patient’s bed to be moved outside to enjoy the sun and beautiful gardens.
One family member says that a trip outside, a few days before her sister passed, is a precious memory that will stay with her forever. “More than anything, she wanted to go outside and smell the fresh air again, to see trees and birds,” she says. “Even on a windy, blustery day, she was lovingly wrapped in warmed-up blankets and allowed to take in the beauty of the sky.”
Families are welcome to stay overnight, cook together in the shared kitchen or gather in comfortable common rooms that make visits easier for children and grandchildren. Peaceful gardens and walking paths offer quiet spaces for reflection…
