Prosecutors: Suspect joked about security guard’s murder after July 2024 shooting

PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) — Prosecutors filed a lengthy memorandum on Thursday, October 30, explaining why a murder suspect from a 2024 shooting should remain behind bars ahead of his preventative detention hearing that was held on Friday, October 31.

Mamadee Keita, 28, is charged with 2nd degree murder attempted murder and several other charges stemming from a shooting that left security guard Walter Mulberry dead and a 17-year-old injured.

The investigation began around 1 a.m. on July 7, 2024, when officers responded to a reported shooting in Southeast Portland at a home known as the T.E.A.M Center. The location is known for hosting private parties…
