I-Team: Canton police officer’s alleged misconduct stems from Proctor investigation

The Canton Police Department confirmed that Sgt. Sean Goode, a veteran officer who was working the night of John O’Keefe’s death and testified during the first Karen Read trial, has been placed on administrative leave while the department investigates allegations of misconduct.

I-Team sources say the allegations of misconduct involving Sgt. Goode stem from an investigation into former Massachusetts State Police Trooper Michael Proctor. The I-Team learning the state police are also investigating Proctor’s text messages for possible misconduct involving troopers who were on the text message chains.

Proctor text message investigation

Proctor, the lead investigator in the Karen Read trial, came under fire when it was revealed he sent inappropriate and vulgar text messages about Read to friends and coworkers. The state police fired Proctor in March. Last month, he dropped his appeal to win his job back after an in-depth analysis of his cellphone uncovered racist and graphic text messages that included photos of intimate body parts and the name of a sexual assault victim.

After those messages came to light, the state police union severed all ties with Proctor and withdrew their support for his appeal…
