A big boost for Alabama manufacturing.
U.S. Steel is investing $75 million in it’s Fairfield Tubular operations near Birmingham. The company plans to build a state-of-the-art premium thread line, expanding production of high-quality steel pipes for the energy industry. The announcement of the multi-million dollar investment came on the same day incoming Mayor Herman Carnes Jr. was sworn in. He hopes this will signal Fairfield is ready for more.
“This is a time for other industrial companies that want to invest in the City of Fairfield, Fairfield is open for business. So, we encourage them to come on, if U.S. Steel is able to do it, they can too,” he said…
