Jodie Filardo, Albemarle County’s Director of Community Development, will retire effective February 1, 2026. Filardo’s retirement will conclude a 47-year career, including 24 years in public service and more than 20 years in the private sector.
She has led Albemarle County’s Community Development team for the past six years. During this time, she oversaw the launch of Civic Access, a web-based portal for residents and businesses, and the implementation of the Enterprise Permitting & Licensing System.
She also guided the adoption of AC44, the County’s Comprehensive Plan, and contributed to attracting AstraZeneca’s $4.5 billion investment to the area. Filardo’s work helped secure grants, including the RAISE grant for the Three Notch’d Trail…
