As Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) funding runs dry, a local food bank is getting some help to meet community needs.
Monday, Erie County announced an emergency supplemental appropriation of $1 million to the Second Harvest Food Bank. The funding would have to be approved by Erie County Council, which has yet to meet on the issue.

Greg Hall, the CEO of the Second Harvest Food Bank, said that not feeding people is not an option and that they will do whatever it takes to feed everyone in need across the county.
“For every $25, we can provide enough food to feed an individual for three weeks,” Hall said. “So, these funds that we’ve discussed today will go directly to food purchases to provide food to our neighbors in need.”
