Woman will spend decades in prison after a child was scalded, beaten in Forsyth County

FORSYTH COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) — A woman was sentenced to decades in prison in Forsyth County on Friday, according to Forsyth County District Attorney James O’Neill.

A Forsyth County jury found 47-year-old Kenisha Crockett guilty of:

  • one count of felony child abuse, inflicting serious bodily injury
  • one count of felony child abuse, inflicting serious physical injury
  • one count of felony child abuse by reckless act or grossly negligent omission, resulting in serious bodily injury

The State’s evidence showed that on April 15, 2021, a sixteen-month-old was brought to an emergency room with third-degree burns on her right foot and ankle and a second-degree burn on her left foot.
