Plantation Police are warning the public about an increase in card skimmers being placed at ATM machines throughout the city.
“Skimming is an illegal activity that involves installing a device, usually undetectable by ATM users, that secretly records bank account data when the user inserts an ATM card into the machine,” the department said in a post on X on Saturday.
Thieves then “encode the stolen data onto a blank card and use it to loot the customer’s bank account.”…
