Indiana State Police Sergeant Matthew Loyd Promoted to First Sergeant

The Superintendent of the Indiana State Police, Anthony M. Scott, has announced the promotion of Sergeant Matthew J. “Joe” Loyd to the rank of First Sergeant. First Sergeant Loyd will serve as an Internal Investigations Coordinator for the Department.

Loyd, who is originally from Greensburg, Indiana, is a 1999 graduate of Greensburg High School, and in 2003, he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminology from Indiana State University. On October 24, 2004, he graduated from the 64th Indiana State Police Recruit Academy and was appointed as a Trooper and assigned to the Indiana State Police Post in Versailles, where he served for over seven years.

In 2012, Loyd was promoted to Detective to serve in Field Investigations at the Versailles Post. In 2021, Loyd was promoted to the rank of Sergeant where he served as an Investigative Squad Leader…
