Vegetation fire reaches nearly 70 acres in Shelter Valley

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Crews responded to a vegetation fire burning near State Route 2 and Highway 78 in the Shelter Valley area on Sunday afternoon, according to Cal Fire San Diego.

The blaze, dubbed the “Scissors Fire,” was first reported at around 2:30 p.m. and initially burned about two acres of brush at a moderate rate of spread. As of the latest update from Cal Fire, the fire had grown to 68 acres with 25% containment.
