SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The office of Syracuse Corporation Counsel Susan Katzoff is reviewing whether bonuses awarded to 37 city workers this year violated the New York State Constitution for use of taxpayer money. The city attorney has been in contact with the State Comptroller’s office which can discuss the law and past guidance about how to interpret the prohibition against such bonuses.
The review began after our I-Team first publicly revealed the payment of bonuses totaling more than $60,000 spread to a select group of workers.
