The Halloween weekend in Chicago ended with two people murdered and 21 others wounded by gunfire—a slight uptick from the same weekend last year but far below the violence seen during the pandemic years.

With 23 total victims, the weekend ranks fourth-best for the same weekend since 2015, according to HeyJackass, a website that tracks Chicago shootings using police data and public reports. The totals could still change if more victims are found or if any of the wounded succumb to their injuries. The city’s lowest count for the weekend came in 2017, with 20 victims.
