‘No other place like this’: Historic Northern Kentucky tavern fights to stay open

NEWPORT, Ky. (WKRC) — A Newport business that’s been serving up blues music since the 1940s may have to close its doors.

The building that houses Mansion Hill Tavern has been around since the 1870s and was used for various purposes over the years.

“1944 is when the cafe layout was established here, and that’s also when the music started,” said Brian Conner, Mansion Hill Tavern owner.

Conner says August and September are usually their slowest time of the year…
