May trial set for former federal prosecutor charged in road rage stabbing

CLEARWATER, Fla. (WFLA) – The former federal prosecutor accused of a violent road rage stabbing is expected in court, Tuesday.

Cell phone video showed Patrick Scruggs in the moments after a minor traffic crash on the Howard Frankland Bridge in September 2023. Witnesses to the incident said he used a knife to break a car window and repeatedly stabbed the driver.

On the stand, one witness described, “As soon as the Lexus had hit the Honda, a gentleman got out of the car, he flung the door open, and at that point, in my interpretation, he looked enraged. He was very angry.”
