GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A local organization is raising awareness about youth homelessness in a unique way: sleeping out in the November cold.
Covenant House Michigan is hosting its first-ever Sleep Out event to raise money and bring awareness to youth homelessness Thursday night.
Stacy Datena, senior philanthropy and engagement manager for Covenant House, estimates that about 325 young people are sleeping outside in Kent County at any given time.
