KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — A driver was seriously injured after their vehicle went off the roadway on Tazewell Pike near Clapps Chapel Road in Corryton.
Rural Metro shared that a single vehicle crashed off the road near a utility company’s sewage pond around 8:30 a.m. on Nov. 3. A prelinimary report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol said the truck was going west on Tazewell Pike near Clapps Chapel Road when it crossed the center line, ran off the roadway to the left, went across a yard and slide down a steep embankment. The vehicle stopped moving after rolling over just before going into the water.
Rural Metro crews assessed the occupant and set up a rope hauling system to safely get them into the waiting ambulance. The driver was taken to a nearby trauma center with what appeared to be serious injuries, according to Rural Metro.
