Man spits at officer, employee following downtown Madison robbery

MADISON, Wis. — A 61-year-old man was arrested Monday night after staff from a downtown Madison business reported he had stolen a few items and spit on an employee before running away.

Officers from the Madison Police Department went to the business near the intersection of North Broom Street and West Mifflin Street at 7:19 p.m. and learned about the man allegedly spitting on an employee when confronted.

The man was spotted in the 300 block of State Street, where police said he resisted and spat on an arresting officer. He was taken to the hospital and tested for significant exposure, which none of which were found…
