The Madison school district wants to replace its math curriculum for kindergarten through eighth grade after a task force concluded some current teaching materials are “outdated.”
The district’s Math Task Force convened in January to review mathematics in Madison schools. In a report shared with the School Board on Monday, the task force said it identified a “critical need” to purchase new core instructional materials for elementary and middle schools.
Elementary schools in the district are using math materials adopted in the 2016-17 school year that were originally published in 2012. But a more recent edition is available from the same publisher, the report noted. Middle schools are also using materials adopted a decade ago, which the task force called outdated…
