Burien Residents Receive 800 Free Trees to Plant in Local Yards

In October 2025, more than 400 Burien residents gathered at Hilltop Park to receive over 800 free trees. The event was organized by the City of Burien and King Conservation District (KCD). It offered 15 types of native, near-native, and fruit trees for planting on private property in the city.

The program aims to help Burien increase its tree canopy from 30% to 40% by 2038. While many city projects focus on public land, this event supports planting on private property.
