Clarksville’s Hankook & Company exceeds lead limitations in wastewater discharges

Hankook & Company in Clarksville has been found to be in significant noncompliance for violating its lead monthly average discharge limit in a four-month period this past summer and has been fined for its noncompliance.

Hankook’s violation of the Federal limit for lead in its wastewater discharge was reported in June, July, August and September.

If the detected values were to increase, it could have potentially caused the City of Clarksville’s wastewater plant to violate its passthrough limits, according to Brian Shelton, Wastewater Operations Manager for Clarksville Gas and Water…
