Man Injured in Shooting Aboard RTA Train Near E. 79th Street Station in Cleveland

A man suffered a gunshot wound to the shoulder following an altercation that took place aboard a Red Line Rapid train on Cleveland’s east side, per reports from local authorities. The incident occurred yesterday afternoon around 2:30 p.m. near the E. 79th Street Station, according to information provided by a spokesperson for the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (GCRTA), as mentioned on Cleveland19.

The dispute between two men which escalated unexpectedly to one pulling a firearm and the other getting shot and the GCRTA Transit Police alongside Cleveland Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded promptly to the distress, the injured man was reported by GCRTA to have been conscious and alert when he was transported to University Hospital, this according to a press release obtained by WKYC at WKYC.
