South Carolina polls open today for local elections

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Polls across the South Carolina are open until 7 p.m. as municipal elections are taking place all across the area. Voters are choosing mayors and town councilmembers in cities, as well as a primary for a vacant SC House seat in Lexington County.

Some of the key races we’ll be tracking is for Columbia Mayor, City Council at-Large, and Districts 1 and 4. You can find out what you need to know before you head to the polls below.

What You’ll Need to Vote

Sydni Bain, voter education and outreach coordinator with the South Carolina Election Commission, said voters should make sure they’re ready before heading to the polls.

“You can find where you can vote by checking your polling place on our website, SCVotes.gov,” Bain said. “You can also find your sample ballot there as well. All you need to bring is your photo ID to vote.”…
