Erie, Pa (WJET/WFXP)– Pennsylvania State Police said they’ve received a confession to the homicide of an inmate at State Correctional Institution Albion.
According to PSP Girard, the cellmate of 25-year-old Andy Ortiz told them he intentionally killed Ortiz on October 29. Police did not release a motive for the alleged homicide.
Erie County Coroner investigating inmate death at SCI Albion
The identity of Ortiz’s cellmate has only been identified as a 33-year-old Conneaut Township man. His name has not been released; however, police said charges are coming.
Erie County Coroner Lyell Cook said 25-year-old Andy Ortiz died from strangulation, ruling asphyxia from neck compression as the cause of death. This was followed by an autopsy performed on October 31.
